InBody 570 body composition analysis

Weight alone can be a misleading measure of health. In under a minute, the InBody 570 shows what the scale can't: how your body is made of muscle, fat, and water, and where.

What the test measures

Standing on the device for about a minute, fully clothed, the InBody 570 uses a gentle, imperceptible electrical signal to measure your body's composition, segment by segment. The report covers:

  • Skeletal muscle mass, overall and by arm, leg, and trunk, so imbalances and gains are visible
  • Body fat mass and percent body fat
  • Visceral fat, the fat around the organs that matters most for diabetes, heart disease, and stroke risk
  • Body water, including the balance between intracellular and extracellular water
  • Basal metabolic rate, the calories your body burns at rest, which anchors realistic nutrition targets
  • Recommended fat loss and muscle gain, to set goals that are about composition rather than a number on the scale

Why we use it

Following these measurements over time tells us whether a plan is working the way it should: fat going down, muscle holding or growing. That matters during weight loss, where losing muscle is the most common hidden cost, and it matters for athletes and anyone training, where the goal is strength. Adjustments to nutrition, protein, and exercise follow the numbers rather than guesses.

Preparing for your test

  • Test at a consistent time of day, ideally before eating and after using the restroom
  • Avoid heavy exercise, alcohol, and large meals in the hours beforehand; stay normally hydrated
  • Remove shoes and socks, and metal jewelry where possible
  • The test isn't appropriate during pregnancy or with an implanted electronic device such as a pacemaker

A guide to reading your results is on the way; your provider walks you through the report at each visit.
